Fergus Wilson has been allowed to stand as PCC despite Criminal Conviction

Fergus Wilson a millionaire businessman who was convicted of a criminal offence in 2014, Has announced he is standing for the elected role of Police & Crime Commissioner in Kent.

Although current rules ban anyone who has a criminal offence from standing as a Police & Crime Commissioner.

Fergus Wilson has been allowed due to appealing his conviction for assault. He has confirmed he should never have been charged as his conviction did not meet the threshold for the assault in which he was charged.

What we do know is that the appeal will not be heard until after the PCC elections process has been completed.

Fergus Wilson recently paid for an advert to appear within his local newspaper to kick start his election campaign.
