The Police Effectiveness report 2015 is an annual inspections of police efficiency, effectiveness andlegitimacy (PEEL).
HMIC’s Effectiveness programme assesses and grades all 43 forces in England and Wales on how they maximise the outcomes from their available resources.
Their inspection focused on the overall question, ‘How effective is the force at keeping people safe and reducingcrime?
To make this assessment they looked at four areas:
1. How effective is the force at preventing crime and anti-social behaviour andkeeping people safe?
2. How effective is the force at investigating crime and managing offenders?
3. How effective is the force at protecting from harm those who are vulnerable,and supporting victims?
4. How effective is the force at tackling serious and organised crime, includingits arrangements for fulfilling its national policing requirements?
