Cambridgeshire Police Officer sentenced for computer misuse

A CAMBRIDGESHIRE police officer has been sentenced for an offence under the Computer Misuse Act 1990.

Detective Sergeant Matt Swash, 41, based at March Police Station, admitted the offence at an earlier hearing.

A court heard the officer had accessed unauthorised information about a colleague on a police computer system.

Det Sgt Swash was today (February 17) sentenced to two months imprisonment, suspended for 12 months, and ordered to pay £250 costs at Cambridge Crown Court.

Previous charges faced by Det Sgt Swash have been stayed, ending the proceedings.

Det Sgt Swash remains suspended pending internal misconduct proceedings.
