Cleveland Police Road Policing Unit are investigating a road traffic incident in Hartlepool  after a local man was hit by a car on Powlet Road in Hartlepool.

Police were called to the scene after a 23 year old was hit by a car just before 6.30pm.

He was taken to James Cook University Hospital, in Middlesbrough after being treated at the scene.

Powlett Road was closed for over 2 hours to allow officers to conduct a scenes of crime examation of Powlett Road.

Powelett Road has since re-opened.
