Police are appealing for witnessesfollowing a  serious injury collision in Newcastle.
It happened at approximately 9.10pmon Sunday, November 8, involving a single vehicle. 

 It was travelling northbound on the Central Motorway East near the southbound exit for Great North Road when the vehicle, for reasons yet to be established, leftthe northbound  carriageway and fell onto the southbound carriageway below.

Officers attending the scene have closedoff the CME in both directions with local diversions in place.
The road is expected to be closed foraround two hours while officers deal with the incident. 
One casualty has been taken by ambulanceto the Royal Victoria Infirmary with serious injuries.
Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward, anyone who was in the area at the time and witnessed the collisionis asked to contact Northumbria Police on 101 ext 69191 quoting log number995 of 08/11/15
