A police officer shot dead in Ireland was a married father-of-three in his 30s.
The officer was killed while attending a call-out at a house in Omeath, County Leath.
Police have confirmed the gunman is believed to be a man in his 20s he opened fire shooting the officer and a woman.
The man then went on to kill himself.
He was currently on police bail awaiting trial for dissident republican terrorism.
