Police are investigating followingthe suspicious  death of a North Tyneside man.
Officers and ambulance staff werecalled an  address in Wallsend at 8.05pm on Monday, October 5, following reports of a man, found with head injuries in the street.

The man beleived to be in his 30s,was given  medical treatment at the scene and was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary by ambulance where he was declared dead a short time later.

A 40-year-old man has beenarrested in  connection with the incident and remains in custody.

It is believed that the victim andthe arrested  man are known to each other.

There are extra officers on patrolin the  area speaking to local residents and carrying out reassurance patrols.
