You now have a 30-day refund right at any shop which is mandatory by law.
The exchange period only applies to faulty goods.
This is now included in the Consumers Credit Act, now offering online protection
Smoke and carbon monoxide alarms
It is now law that all floors of rented accommodation have a smoke alarm on every floor and now a Carbon Monoxide alarm installed in every room where soild fuel is burnt.
If a landlord ignores the law they will face a £5,000 fine.
Ten minute grace period on parking tickets
Parking Artendants are no longer allowed to be rewarded for hitting fine targets.
Parking Attendants will now no longer be able to wait over your car for the exact second your parking ticket runs out.
They now have to allow a 10-minute grace period when handing out parking fines.
You can no longer smoke in cars with children in them
If you have someone under 18 in your car it is against the law to smoke. Anyone caught will be fined £50
Vaping is allowed, you are also allowed to smoke if your car has a convertible roof.
Driving with the windows down does not count. But if your under 18 your allowed to smoke but anyone in the car with you over 18 is not allowed.
Police have confirmed they will look to offereducation rather than fine.
The new 5p bag law
From Monday the 5th October you will have to pay 5p for you carrier bags.
If the shop has 250 full time staff you will be forced to pay.
This includes clothes shops, pound shops, frozen food shops and supermakets.
