Help Police Identify This Man Following Tower Hamlets Robbery

Detectives investigating a robbery on Commercial Road in Tower Hamlets have issued CCTV footage in the hope of identifying a man they are keen to speak with.

At 02:00hrs on Saturday, 18 July, police were called to reports of a robbery in a food and wine store on Commercial Road, Tower Hamlets.

As the 35-year-old victim got off the bus, he was nearly struck by a man cycling on the pavement.

The victim shouted at the passing cyclist to be careful, where upon the cyclist turned around and headed straight for him.

Keen to avoid confrontation, the victim walked into a nearby food and wine store. 

The cyclist went into the shop after the victim and tried to steal the victim’s wrist watch as ‘compensation for breaking his bike’. 

A fight broke out and the victim was able to restrain his attacker for a few minutes whilst the shop keeper called the police. 

The suspect was able to break free before police arrived.

The suspect is described as an Asian man, in his 20s and 5ft 9ins tall. He had a short black goatee beard and a scar on the bridge of his nose.

He was wearing a dark puffer jacket, dark shoes, a dark cap and blue jeans. 

Police are keen to hear from anyone who may recognise this man.
