On Sunday, 30 August at 21:35hrs police were called to a report of a man in attendance at an address in Barnet making threats to kill and in possession of what was believed to be a firearm.
The man left the address before officers arrived.
Armed officers later attended an address at Picardy House, Cedar Road, Enfield.
Shortly before 23:50hrs a white man was shot by police at the address.
The man, believed to be aged 43, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Formal identification awaits. A post-mortem examination will be held in due course.
A non-police firearm has been recovered from the scene.
There have been no further arrests and no further injuries.
The Directorate of Professional Standards (DPS) is in attendance at the scene.
As a matter of routine, the incident has been referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission. The IPCC have now begun an independent investigation.
