All eyes to the sky as shooting stars expected

Tonight marks the start of the Perseid Meteor shower which will light up the nights sky.

The shower starts tonight and will last three days.

Over 100 meteors can been seen every hour during hours or darkness.

Robin Scagell, vice-president of the Society for Popular Astronomy, said: “The thing about shooting stars is they’re a wonderful free spectacle we can all enjoy, assuming clear skies.

It’s best to watch them from the countryside but even in town, these meteors are bright enough for a few to be visible.”

The shower can be seen from 11PM but midnight is supposed to be the golden hour.
