Ten men have been detained on suspicion of illegal entry into the UK in Newmarket

Police were called at 10:10am this morning, Wednesday 22 July, to reports that a group of men had fled from a lorry on the A14 at Newmarket on the junction with the A142.

 Witnesses have described a group of 20 or more black men exiting the lorry and leaving the scene. A search of the area is now underway, involving police officers and the National Police Helicopter.

 Seven men were detained at the scene and a further three were detained in Exning. All are being taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre for questioning.

 The UK Border Agency will be notified.
