A murder investigation has been launched following the death of a man in Sidcup on Friday.
Police were called to a property at Pembury Crescent, Sidcup shortly after 16:00hrs on Friday, 19 June to a report of an unresponsive man.
Officers and London Ambulance Service attended the scene and found an 82-year-old man. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Next of kin have been informed.
While formal identification awaits, the deceased can be named as Arthur Walters-Girout, 82 (19.08.32) who lived at the address.
A post-mortem examination held on Sunday, 21 June at the Princess Royal University Hospital gave the cause of death as a head injury.
Detectives from the Homicide and Major Crime Command led by Detective Chief Inspector Diane Tudway are investigating. DCI Tudway said:
“Mr Walters-Girout, a vulnerable 82-year-old man, was attacked in his home.
“We continue to investigate the motive behind this murder and I would appeal to anyone that knew Mr Walters-Girout, or those that lived in the neighbourhood, to contact police if they remember any suspicious people or cars in the area of Pembury Crescent in the days preceding his death.
“My thoughts are with his family at this difficult time.”
