South Wales Police has charged Arnel Martinez Raymundo, 47, with the attempted murder of a 43 year-old woman. The incident took place in the Grangetown area of Cardiff on Friday 12 June.
Detectives from South Wales travelled to the Croydon area of London on Thursday 25 June and arrested Raymundo on suspicion of attempted murder. He was returned to
Cardiff Bay police station for questioning and subsequently charged with the offence on Friday 26 June.
He appeared at Cardiff Magistrate’s Court this morning (27.6.15), and was remanded in custody to appear at Cardiff Crown Court in July.
Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Inspector Wendy Gunney of Cardiff CID said: “This was a horrendous crime, which left the victim with significant injuries. She has been through a traumatic experience, and I hope that the charge against Raymundo will now provide reassurance to the victim, her family and the local community. The charging of this dangerous individual is testament to the endeavour and diligence of the investigation team.
