Officers were called by the London Ambulance Service at approximately 05:40hrs on Saturday, 2 May to reports of a man found collapsed in Castlehaven Road, NW1.

The man, aged 28, was taken to a central London hospital where he died at 20:27hrs on Monday, 4 May.

Next of kin have been informed and, while formal identification awaits, officers confirm the deceased is Mahad Abdi Abshir, 28 (25.10.86) from the Camden area.

A post-mortem examination will be scheduled in due course.

While the death is currently being treated as unexplained, officers from the Homicide and Major Crime Command are leading the investigation into the circumstances of Mr Abdi Abshir’s death.

Detective Chief Inspector Andy Partridge said: “Castlehaven Road is a busy location, right in the centre of Camden and even at this time of the morning people would have been on the streets possibly following a night out or on their way to work.

“I would appeal to anyone who was in the area around the time Mr Abdi Abshir was found to come forward and speak to police.”

Anyone with information is asked to call the incident room on 020 8358 0300 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
