Durham Constabulary would like to make an appeal for any witnesses to a serious road traffic accident which occurred approximately 11.30pm Saturday 2th May 2015 on Blackhills Road, Horden, Peterlee, County Durham.
The accident has involved a Peugeot 206 motor car and a 72 year old male pedestrian. The Peugeot was travelling on the road in a southerly direction.
This vehicle has lost control whilst negotiating traffic calming measures, crossed the carriageway, colliding with metal railing.
The vehicle has gone through the railings, mounting the pavement, colliding with a shop frontage and a 72 year old male pedestrian.
The Peugeot has then made off from the scene of the accident and the driver has abandoned the vehicle nearby.
At this time the driver of the Peugeot is not known and has not been traced.
The pedestrian, a local man, has received leg and head injuries as a result of the accident and was transported to James Cook University Hospital for treatment.
