Police are investigating after a woman was raped in Salford.

Between 1am and 2am on Sunday 12 April 2015, the 33-year-old woman was walking on Worsley Road from the direction of Liverpool Road when a car stopped and the driver offered her a lift.

She got into the car before it stopped on Hall Bank.

She was told to get out before she was raped on Bridgewater canal tow path.

The man then drove off.

He is described as being a pale, white man, in his late 50’s with dark hair that was short and thinning. He had dark eyebrows with stubble under his chin, of average build and was approximately 5’5″ to 5’6″ tall, wearing black jeans and a long-sleeved dark top.

Detective Inspector Benjamin Hart said: “This was a horrific attack on a lone woman which has been deeply traumatic for her.

“We have a team of dedicated detectives working on this case who are pursuing numerous lines of enquiry to identify the person responsible. However, we need the support from anyone who was in and around the area at that time to make contact with us.

“If you were around the Hall Bank or Worsley Road area between 12.30am and 2am, I would like to speak with you regarding what you may have seen or heard.
