Northumbria Police have named a 16 year old boy who plunged from cliffs in to the sea at 3am on Easter Sunday. 

He has been identified as Joshua Smith aged 16 who lived within the Berwick area.  . 

Enquiries are ongoing into to establishthe circumstances around the death however police believe there was no third party involvement. 

Emergency Services attended along with the RNLI pull Joshua from the sea. 

He was taken to Wansbeck General Hospital in Ashington Where he later died.

Enquires are in the early stages to establish the circumstances.Anyone who may have seen teenage boy in area of the cliffs by Spittal point in early hours of Sunday, April5, is asked to contact police on 101 ext 69191 quoting reference number181 05/04/15.
