Burst water pipe brings Newcastle City Centre to rushhour lockdown

A burst water pipe in Newcastle City Centre is causing major delays. 

Northumbrua Police are aware of flooding in thecity centre of Newcastle.

Areas affected are believed to be Rye Hill Campus, Scotswood Road and Redheugh Bridge.

Officers are at the scenes with local authority and Northumbrian Water to help assist with the incident. 

There are expected to be delays on the roads and motorists are advised to avoid the area and find alternative routes.
