Man in hospital after Manchester shooting. 

A man is being treated in hospital after being shot in Wigan.

Shortly before 5.20pm on Monday 30 March 2015, police were called to Bolton Road, Ashton in Makerfield,following reports shots had been fired at a car wash.

Officers attended and spoketo witnesses who describe seeing a man, who was wearing a balaclava, getout of a white car and fire several shots towards the car wash.

The car was then driven off.

A short time later policewere informed that a man had attended hospital for treatment to injuriesto his abdomen.

Part of Bolton Road has beenshut and is expected to remain closed for some time.

Detective Inspector Matthew Moore, said: “This incident has only just occurred so the full circumstancesof what happened or why remain unclear.

“We know shots were fired at a car wash and a man has attended hospital with serious injuries.

“Such indiscriminate use of a firearm could have resulted in multiple deaths and I want to reassurelocal residents a full and thorough investigation is already underway.

“If anyone witnessed whathappened or has information about those responsible or the motive behindthe attack I would urge them to call us immediately.

“I would also appeal toanyone who has seen the car since this incident to get in touch.

“All information will betreated in strict confidence.”
