Man critical after being punched

A man is in a critical conditionin hospital after he was punched, in Stockport.

The 24-year-old man sufferedhis injuries after he was attacked near to Bar One on London road in HazelGrove, shortly before 3am on Sunday 15 March 2015.

The victim had been walkingon London Road when he was confronted by a man who launched into an unprovokedassault, punching him in the face.

As a result, the victim lostconsciousness and remains in critical condition in hospital.

Police are now appealingto anyone with information to come forward.

The offender is describedas being mixed race 5ft 10in to 6ft tall, of stocky build and with a shavedhead.

Detective Inspector AndyNaismith of the Major Incident Team said: “The force of this punchcaused the victim to lose consciousness and he is in a serious conditionin hospital.

“We now need to establishexactly what led up to this assault and what prompted the offender to dowhat he did.

“We believe there werepotential witnesses who were nearby when the assault happened and eitherwitnessed what happened, the run-up to the attack or the aftermath so ifyou do have information then please call us.”
