A man has been arrested aftera shooting in Moss Side.
This morning, 17 March 2015,a firearms warrant was executed by officers from Greater Manchester Policeat an address in the Moss Side area.
As a result, a 17-year-oldman was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in policecustody for questioning.
The arrest relates to anincident that occurred shortly after 1.45pm on Monday 16 March 2015, whenpolice were called to Great Western Street in Moss Side to reports a shothad been fired.
Firearms officers attendedthe scene and found that a 23-year-old man had received a gunshot woundto the leg.
The man has been taken tohospital for treatment. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
Detective Chief InspectorAndy Cunliffe, based at South Manchester division, said: “I know peoplewere anxious and alarmed following reports that a man had been shot inour community.
“I want to reassurepeople that as a result of the significant inquiries officers have beenmaking, we have this morning carried out a warrant and arrested a man onsuspicion of attempted murder.
“We will now be questioningthat man so I hope people will understand that I cannot divulge much moredetails at present.
“However, it is importantthat our community is made aware of this arrest and of the significantpolicing operation we have in place both to get to the bottom of this incidentand reassure residents living and working here. We will keep the communityfully updated as our investigation progresses.”
