Northumbria Police are continuing their investigation following the death of a 11 year old boy.

At 3:39pm on Wednesday, February 11, police received a report of a collision involving a bus and pedestrianin Whickham View, close to the junction with Broadmead Way in Scotswood.

Police and paramedics attended and thepedestrian, an 11-year-old boy, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

The boy has not yet been formally identified although the family have been informed. We are not yet in a position torelease the identity of the boy at this time.

The road was closed for three hoursto allow for an investigation into the collision and the recovery of the vehicle.

The family has asked that their privacy is respected and they do not wish to be contacted by the media at this time.

Enquiries are ongoing into the collision and police are appealing for witnesses to contact 101 ext 69191 quotingreference 689 11/02/15.
