A murder investigation is underway, following the death of a woman in New Malden.

Police were called at 13:13hrs on Monday, 9 February to an address on Stanley Avenue, New Malden, to reports of a deceased female.

Officers attended the address where they found the lifeless body of a woman in her early 60s.

Next of kin have been informed.

Formal identity is yet to take place.

A post mortem examination will take place in due course.

A 65-year-old man at the address was arrested on suspicion of murder. He remains in custody at a south London police station.

The investigation is being led by Detective Chief Inspector Rebecca Reeves of the Homicide and Major Crime Command.
