Man charged after parents pushed to the ground and threatened cops at Primary School

Police have charged a man after aman verbally and physically assaulted people outside a school in Longsight.

Stephen Maloney (21/01/85) of Langport Avenue, Manchester has been charged with a section 47 assault, one countof affray and a public order offence under section 4a of the public orderact.

He appeared before Manchester Magistrates Court earlier today – 13 February 2015 – where he was remanded into custody until 27 February 2015.

The charges relate to an incident that took place outside a primary school in Longsight.

At around 3pm on Wednesday 11thFebruary 2015, police were called to St Luke’s Church of England PrimarySchool on Langport Avenue following reports that a man had shouted abuse at people waiting outside the school and had pushed two women to the ground.

Following the attack, the man then walked away.

Soon after officers attended the scene, the same man appeared carrying two forks, which he used to threaten the officers.

Officers reacted swiftly and with the use of a Taser, safely arrested the man, preventing any harm to him,officers present or members of the public.
