Following intelligence received, officers from the North West Counter Terrorism Unit and Merseyside Policeare currently searching five addresses.

A 31-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the commission, preparationor instigation of acts of terrorism and remains in police custody.

Searches are currently ongoingat addresses on View Road in Rainhill, St Helens and Prescot Road and Holt Road in Kensington, Liverpool.

The searches are expectedto last several hours and possibly days.
