Detectives are investigating the murder of a man after he was found in Westminster with stab wounds.
Officers were called at approximately 22:40hrs on Thursday, 8 January to Salisbury Street, NW8 following reports of a stabbing.
London Ambulance Service attended and an 18-year-old man was found with stab injuries.
He was taken to a central London hospital where he was pronounced dead at 23:24hrs.
Next of kin have been informed. Formal identification is yet to take place.
A post-mortem examination will be held in due course.
An incident room has opened under Detective Chief Inspector Noel McHugh of the Homicide and Major Crime Command.
DCI Noel McHugh, said: “I would urge anyone who was in the Salisbury Street area and witnessed what happened to come forward and speak with police.
“I know that there were several youths in the area at the time of the stabbing and I am appealing directly to them to come forward and speak with officers.
“I would also like to speak with anyone who saw this group running south towards Edgware Road.”
