A pregnant woman who managed to get stuck in traffic on her way to hospital has given birth in the back of a police car.

Police Officers Ian Sullivan, Holly Galvin and George Wigley assisted the woman after becoming stuck in traffic, after her partner flagged the officers down.

They placed her in the back of the police car and headed to hospital quickly, by the time they arrived at the hospital the mother was cradling a baby in her arms.

Themes Valley Police confirmed mother and baby are doing well, although they did not know whether the baby was a boy or girl.
