A man was stabbed in the back and robbed in a vicious attack in Longsight.
At about 3am on Monday 22 December 2014 the victim was walking home from the local shop, along Longford Place and when he reached the junction of Ayton Grove he was approached by two men. One of the men grabbed his wrist and tried to steal his watch, but the victim pulled away and was punched in the face. The other man stabbed him twice in the back and the victim fell to the floor and was stabbed twice more, before the men fled the scene. He was taken to hospital and treated for stab wounds.
The man who stabbed him is described as West Indian, in his 30s, of stocky build with short black hair and stubble, about 5ft 8in tall and was wearing a green jacket.
The other man is described as West Indian, in his 30s, about 6ft tall and of slim build.
Detective Constable Danielle Bullivant of South Manchester division said: “Fortunately the man’s injuries are not life-threatening, but this was a violent attack that left a man in hospital.
“The man targeted him as he walked alone and continued to attack him, even after he had fallen to the floor.
“I would urge anybody who may have been in the area at the time of the attack, or recognises the descriptions of the offenders, to call police.”
