Man escapes Scarborough Magistrates

Scarborough police areappealing for the public’s help to locate a wanted man from the town.

Russell Frankland, 40, is being sought after escaping from security staff at the Scarborough Magistrates’ Court, Northway, at 4.45pm on Thursday 4 November 2014.

He Had appeared at court charged with robbery and burglary, which were committed in Scarborough in November 2014, and had been remanded into custody to appear at York Crown Court on Friday 19 December 2014.

Frankland is described as white, 6ft tall with a medium build and brown hair.

Although It is believed Frankland may still be in Scarborough, he also has links in the Rochdale area of Lancashire.

Detective Inspector Paul Healy, of Scarborough CID, said: “Russell, if you see orhear this appeal, I want you to hear this clear message. We are going to catchyou and return you to custody. Hand yourself in now, by remaining at large youare only delaying the inevitable and making matters worse for yourself.

“Iam also appealing to anyone who sees Frankland to contact the police straight away.”

Detective Inspector Healy added: “If you are helping to shield Frankland from thepolice, you are not helping him. In fact you may be even committing offences yourself. If this is the case, you face the prospect of arrest and prosecution.”
