Female dog walker sexually assaulted in Stockport

A woman was struck with a dog chain and then sexually assaulted in Stockport.

The attack happened at about 7pm on 10 December 2014 as the woman was walking alone along Cambrian Road in Edgeley.

The 31-year-old woman was walking along the road when she was confronted by a man who pinned her to the wall and then struck her in the legs with the dog chain, causing her to fall to the ground.

He then pinned her face down on the floor and sexually assaulted her.

Another man the offender was with then remonstrated for him to stop, which he did, before they both ran off towards Avondale Road and then out of sight.

Police have now released evofits of the two men and are appealing to anyone who recognises either man to come forward.

Detective Constable Colin Teasdale said: “This woman was subjected to a terrifying ordeal at the hands of her attacker, who pinned her to the floor and sexually assaulted her.

“Clearly she is extremely distressed and we are offering her whatever support she needs.

“Despite her horrific ordeal, she has still had the courage to work with our forensic imaging specialists to produce two evofits of the two men so I would urge people to look very closely at the images and if you do recognise either of these men then please tell us.

“I would also like to appeal for the second man who remonstrated with the offender to stop the attack, to come forward.

“I do not want to cause any undue alarm in the community but it is important we warn people what has happened so they can be on their guard and vigilant particularly as the nights draw in even earlier during the winter season.

“If you do see anyone acting suspiciously or you think you spot these two men then please call us immediately.”

Anyone with information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

If you or someone you know has been raped or sexually assaulted, we encourage you not to suffer in silence and report it to the police or a support agency so you can get the help and support available.
