Dover ferry taken out of action causing increased traffic volume.

Kent Police is monitoring increased traffic volume on the A20 towards the Port of Dover. The force is aware that a ferry at Dover has been taken out of action and with the recent weather conditions this is causing traffic congestion and delays.

In addition, traffic has been queuing from junction 11A of the M20 towards the Channel Tunnel. The sliproad is experiencing an increase in traffic volume due to these diversions and general weight of seasonal traffic.

Operation Stack Phase 1 is NOT currently in place but remains a possibility. Please be aware that traffic towards the Port of Dover may be heavier than usual and we are continuing to monitor the situation and will provide updates when appropriate.

Phase 1 – closure of the M20 coastbound between Junction 11 and 12

Phase 2 – as Phase 1 but in addition closure of the M20 coastbound between Junction 8 and 9

Phase 3 – as Phase 1 and 2 but in addition the closure of the M20 Londonbound between junction 9 and 8.
