A murder investigation has been launched after a teenager was stabbed in Tower Hamlets.
Police have launched a murder investigation following the death of a 15 year old boy who was stabbed in Tower Hamlets.
London Ambulance service alerted officers to the incident which occurred on Bethnal Green Road , E2, at 23:04hrs on Friday, 5 December after a teenager was found stabbed.
Officers attended and found a 15-year-old boy suffering from serious stab injuries to the abdomen.
The boy was taken by London Ambulance Service to an east London hospital in a critical condition. He died in hospital at 02:12hrs on Saturday, 5 December.
Police have informed the next of kin. A post-mortem examination will be held in due course.
An 18-year-old man [A] was arrested at the scene in connection with this incident and has been taken to an east London police station for questioning. He is currently in custody.
Officers from the Homicide and Major Crime Command (HMCC) are investigating.
Detectives are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed an altercation just before the incident in Padbury Court, E2, between a group of male youths on foot and the occupants of a car.
The altercation carried on to nearby Gibraltar Walk. The victim was part of the group on foot.
Detective Chief Inspector Chris Jones of the HMCC said: “Anyone who may have witnessed this altercation or have information which may assist the investigation is asked to contact the police as soon as possible.”
