Police appeal – Carl Barton is wanted in connection with stabbing

POLICE are appealing for help to trace a man wanted in connection with a stabbing.

Officers were called at shortly after 4pm on Sunday (November 9th) to reports that a 28 year old local man had been stabbed outside the Spar shop, Tunley Holme at Clayton Brook.

The victim had suffered a number of serious stab wounds and was taken by ambulance to hospital where he remains in a critical but stable condition.

Police want to speak to 32 year old Carl Barton (pictured) in connection with the offence.

He has connections to a number of addresses in Clayton Brook and Bamber Bridge and his most recent links appear to be with addresses on Greenwood, Clayton Brook and Longacre at Bamber Bridge.

Det Sgt Diane Higham, of South CID, said: “This was an extremely serious assault and the victim is lucky to still be alive. It is vital that we trace Carl Barton as a matter of urgency and I would appeal to anyone who knows where he might be to get in touch with us. I would also appeal to Carl himself, if he sees this appeal, to hand himself in to police so that we can speak to him.

“I would urge members of the public not to approach Carl Barton directly but to contact police.”
