A 69-year-old woman has died in a two car crash on the A7 in the Scottish Borders.

The collision happened a mile south of Selkirk, on the road to Hawick, Thursday 06/11/14 at 5pm.

The 51-year-old female driver of the other vehicle was taken to Borders General Hospital for treatment.

The road was closed for several hours on Thursday evening for traffic police to investigate the cause of the collision.

The woman who died was driving a Seat Ibiza travelling north when it was involved in a collision with a Nissan Qashqai travelling in the other direction .

Paramedics attended the scene but the woman was pronounced dead at the crash site on the A7.
