A 60-year-old man has died today following a crash between a car and a van on the M74 in Lanarkshire.

999 services were called to the crash, on the northbound carriageway between Larkhall and Hamilton this morning at 06:20.

Police said the motorway was closed for a number of hours to all northbound traffic between J8 and J6.

The van driver is believed to have minor injury’s and has attended hospital.
