Three surfers have died after getting into difficulty at sea, just of the Cornwall coast today.
A woman and two men were among seven surfers who had to be airlifted at Mawgan Porth, near Newquay.
Coastguards received 999 calls from people on shore, saying that ‘several surfers were in distress and needed help!’
Four of the group were located on shore and three adults were located in the water by an RAF Rescue helicopter. The RNLI lifeboats were also scrambled to the scene.
They were airlifted to hospital but later died earlier this afternoon.
An investigation is now underway…
