Police appeal for information on the Sheldon Arms shooting in Tameside

Police have made an arrest as part of a murder investigation in Tameside.

Around 10.25pm on Saturday 4 October 2014, 26-year-old Kieran McGrath was found collapsed outside Ashton police station on Manchester Road suffering serious injury.

Kieran made his way to the police station after being shot. Police officers and paramedics who had been called to the station tried to resuscitate him but sadly he was pronounced dead at the scene within minutes.

Kieran had been inside the Sheldon Arms Pub with friends. At around 10:20pm he walked out of the main entrance of the pub and onto the car park before walking to a white Audi A3.

After leaving the pub, several shots were fired in his direction and one hit him.

Post mortem results show Kieran died from a single gunshot wound to the chest.

Police have arrested a 23-year-old man on suspicion of murder and he remains in custody for questioning.
