    Witness appeal – Man dies after being hit by three cars on the M61

    A man has died following a collision on the M61 last night, Tuesday 2 September 2014.

    At about 11pm officers were called to the northbound carriageway, just before junction 6 at Horwich, to report of a collision.

    On arrival officers found the body of a man, believed to be in his 40s and from Bolton, trapped under a vehicle.

    It is believed the man, a pedestrian, had been struck by three vehicles, including a Toyota Yaris and a Vauxhall Astra.

    He suffered multiple injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

    Police are now appealing for witnesses to the collision.
