A Bathgate pensioner has been repeatedly stabbed during an attack in his own home on Tuesday.

The 65-year-old was attacked in the house in Lothian Road, Bathgate, West Lothian at 3.20am.

The pensioner was stabbed several times and is in a very serious condition in hospital.

The pensioner was also robbed, with a number of items missing for his property.

The attack is being treated as attempted murder by Police Scotland.

Officers want to speak to two men who were seen in the area around the time of the attack. They were aged between 20 and 40 years old, both white and around 5ft 10ins tall.

One was wearing a blue hoodie, the other a grey hoodie and both were wearing jogging bottoms.
