Detectives have launcher a murder investigation following the death of a baby in Barnet.

Police attended a north London hospital on Friday 29th August following reports of an unresponsive 10-month-old baby boy.

The boy was transferred to a central London hospital later that day but died on Monday, 1 September.

Officers know the identity of the deceased and next of kin have been informed.

A post-mortem held on Thursday, 4 September at Great Ormond Street Hospital did not give a formal cause a death and further tests are required.

On the morning of the incident the boy was taken to the hospital by the London Ambulance Service and later pronounced dead. Enquiries are underway to establish how he died.

On Friday, 5 September a 31-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of murder. She has since been bailed pending further enquires to a date in mid October.

Detectives from the Homicide and Major Crime Command are investigating and enquires continu
