Elderly woman raped by intruder

Police have launched an investigation following the rape of an elderly woman in her Felixstowe flat in the early hours of Sunday.

The elderly woman called police at 2am on Sunday 28th September and reported a man had broken into her flat and that she had been sexually assaulted.

Police and paramedics arrived at the scene and took the elderly woman to hospital were she is being treated for a number of injuries, she is in a stable condition.

Senior Investigating Officer, Det Supt Simon Parkes, said: “We’re still trying to identify the sequence of events that led up to this rape. We will be speaking to this lady once she has left hospital in order to obtain a description of her attacker. For the time being though, our appeal goes out to those people who were on Felixstowe high street between 1-3am on Sunday.”

Crime scene investigators remain at the scene while officers will be conducting house-to-house enquiries during the course of the day.
