Detectives are investigating the death of a man in Battersea.
Police were called at around 23:30hrs on Thursday, 11 September, to reports of a shot fired in Tennyson Street, SW8.
Officers attended the scene and found a 21-year-old man in the street suffering a gunshot wound.
The man was taken by London Ambulance Service to a central London hospital where he died in the early hours of Friday, 12 September.
Officers believe they know the identity of the deceased but await formal identification. Next of kin have been informed.
A post-mortem examination will be held in due course.
Detectives from the Homicide & Major Crime Command are investigating. An incident room will open later this morning.
Police retain an open mind as to any motive, and there has been no arrest at this very early stage.
