Northumbria Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious incident which has left a young man fighting for his life.

The incident occurred at 2.30am on Sunday August 31st, on the northbound sliproad from Swan House roundabout to New Bridge Street on the Central Motorway in the city centre, adjacent to Plumber Court.

A taxi collided with a pedestrian in the road. The pedestrian, a man aged 26, was taken to the RVI hospital for treatment where he is in a critical condition.

Police are appealing for any witnesses who were in the area and who witnessed the collision, or who has information about it, to contact them on 101 ext 69191, quoting reference 240
