Armed robbery at Sainsbury's staff threatened with knife

Detectives have launched an investigation following an armed robbery at a convenience store in Redcar.

The Sainbury’s store was targeted on Larkswood Road in Redcar at 6.30am this morning.

Police have released two images of teo suspect the first suspect is described as wearing a light coloured tracksuit top, pulled tight around his face, dark tracksuit bottoms with red stripes along the legs.

He entered the shop brandishing a knife and left with around £150 in cash and between £500 and £600 worth of cigarettes, brands such as Lambert and Butler, JP and Amber Leaf.

The second shows a man waiting outside the shop, who was wearing dark tracksuit bottoms and trainers, he had a hooded top pulled across his face, which was dark blue on the top half and white along the bottom half.

Police would like to speak to anyone with information on these offences and would like to hear if residents have been offered cigarettes such as these door-to-door today.
