Two firearms officers suspended after allegedly battering deer to death.

Two firearms officers from Durham Constabulary have been suspended after it is alleged they battered a deer to death with a crowbar.

The professional standards department is now investigating after it was brought to the forces attention that the deer was not destroyed in an approved, humane manner.

The incident occurred almost two months ago in June when firearms officers were deployed to a road in Tanfield Lea in County Durham.
