Emergency services are currently on the scene of a serious head on collision which involves a bus and car.
The A19 at Tollerton, York has been closed and is expected to remain closed for a number of hours.
The collision happened at 6pm on Wednesday July 16th, a car is traveling in the direction of Thirsk and a bus heading into to York.
The driver of the car was treated by paramedics for serious injuries.
The driver of the bus was freed by firefighters and was taken by Air Ambulance to Leeds General infirmary.
Three passengers that were on the bus escaped unharmed.
North Yorkshire Police deployed a mobile police office to the scene to allow shelter for stranded passengers.
The road remains closed while police carry out investigations and allow for the vehicles to be recovered.
It is likely to take several hours to reopen the stretch of road so motorists are advised to stay away and to check local radio for the latest traffic and travel reports.
Witnesses to the collision are asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 1, and speak to the Force Control Room.
