Masked man holds Asda store up in armed robbery

Police have launched an investigation after a masked man held an Asda store up in North Tyneside with a knife.

The incident occurred this morning (Saturday June 14th) at 6.40-‘ when a masked armed man entered the store on Saville Street with a kitchen knife.

He demanded cash from the safe, staff refused to hand over cash he made off on foot after grabbing a laptop computer in the direction of North Shields town centre. He is described as around 5ft 7ins tall and of slim build.

The staff were left shaken but unharmed as a result of the incident.

Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

Anyone with information or who saw the man described before or after the robbery is asked to come forward.
