Police have arrested a man in his 60s following the murder of a woman in Newcastle.
Police were alerted to the sudden death of a woman in her 60s at 8.14am on Wednesday, June 25th. She was discovered in a house on Lismore Place in Newcastle.
Police have arrested the man in his 60s on suspicion of murder and is currently in custody helping with enquiries.
Enquiries are in the early stages and are ongoing.
Superintendent Peter Farrell, Newcastle Area Command, said: “The investigation is in the very early stages and extra patrols are taking place in the area to reassure local residents.
“A man has been arrested in connection with the incident and is currently in custody. At this stage it’s believed those involved are known to each other.”
