A Tesco distribution centre was evacuated following reports of black smoke billowing from a lorry close to the building.

Emergency services were called to the distribution centre after a incoming Lorry carrying electrical equipment erupted into flames, While it was at Gate 87 which is connected to the distribution centre.

Tesco bosses quickly evacuated the full area amid fears the fire could spread to the near by building.

The site at Teesport in Middlesbrough is used to supply Tesco stores within the northern region.

Eyewitnesses have told Police Hour they were evacuated from the site for over an hour, while emergency services dealt with the fire.

It is believed no one was hurt within the incident.
